Throughout every year SETA apprentices and staff take part in charity events for our Chief Executive’s chosen charity. For the past few years this charity has been ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’, a wonderful charity that make dreams come true for sick/terminally ill children and give precious memories to them and their families.
The Annual Lyme Park charity walk is a firm favourite. It not only raises money, it gives apprentices and staff the opportunity to relax for a few hours, socialise and get to know one another on a different level.
The walk went amazingly well this year, the weather was perfect for the walk with the rain holding off nicely!
We arrived at Lyme Park around half past ten and took the outer north circuit route.
This year we had been all set for having to doing the walk without our Chief Executive for the first time ever due to him having very painful complications with his knee/leg for a few weeks prior to the walk. We were very surprised to see him waiting for us ready prepped with walking boots ready! He was in a lot of pain but he managed to soldier on and completed the whole walk with the help of his trusty stick/branch (which didn’t make him look like Gandalf from Lord of the Rings at all… much! 😉
Once again our thanks go out to the support everyone has shown our apprentices with their sponsors and to the companies who kindly made donations.
Special thanks goes to Nestle Waters, Federal Mogul and Matthews International (Incinerator and Cremator Manufacturers).
See what our apprentices said about the event:
Look out for our next event on Friday 11th December – The Santa Dash, this is a fun 3 mile run around Woodbank park in Offerton Stockport ……… but everyone will be dressed as SANTA! (Click here for more information.)
